A first visit to our clinic will consist of a consultation with an acupuncturist prior to any kind of treatment. This consultation is done so the practitioner can ascertain both your prior medical history and personal history as well as to establish a caring patient practitioner relationship. Chinese medicine unlike Western medicine, looks at the patient as an individual with different personal characteristics that contributes to their makeup; therefore this information is important to the practitioners that treat them.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing technique that has successfully treated people for over 2000 years. The technique of medical acupuncture primarily utilizes needles to contact the body’s own healing energy network. These networks are called meridians. Meridians stream over and through the body at deep and superficial levels. Meridians are constantly moving healing energy or Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) throughout the body to maintain its balance and harmony.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture is a no-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation. Cosmetic acupuncture leaves no inclusion lines, swelling or extensive bruising.
Meridian acupuncture
Primarily utilizing needles to contact the body`s own healing energy network. These are called meridians. The needling of a certain combination of acupuncture points on the meridians stimulates the body’s nervous system, circulatory system and immune system to heal itself.
Moxification
i.e. “moxibustion” the use of an herb called “moxa” or mugwort that is ignited and because of its heat conductivity and gentle warmth transfers heat through the tip of the needle into the body`s meridians.
Cupping
The vacuum application of glass cups over an area of musculo-skeletal pain. This can also be used to relieve muscle tension.
Five Phases Therapy
Is an advanced acupuncture treatment modality that seeks to balance all 12 meridians in the body. This is often used in conjunction with other modalities of acupuncture.
