Factory Direct Craft Supply

Factory Direct Craft Supply was founded by a stay-at-home mother in the 1980's after finding her husband had been laid off from work. Desperate for income, she began to buy place mats in bulk from a company in Louisville, Kentucky; adding ruffles and lace, and then reselling them at the local flea markets. Her customers soon began inquiring about where they could purchase the lace being used. Then an epiphany! Why not sell the lace, as well as the place mats? She loaded up her kids, drove through one of worst snowstorms in history, and purchased the companies first commercial lace machine. Before long the whole family found themselves ruffling lace late into the night.

After she began to sell lace, it was only a natural progression to add other craft supplies to the line. Soon three retail stores followed and the birth of the first Factory Direct Craft Supply catalog! The catalog was a small 11 page cut and paste copy put together on the families portable typewriter and taken to a local copy shop to be "printed." The product selection then progressed from craft supplies, to wedding accessories and later to home decor.

With three retail stores, six flea market operations, one catalog, one husband, the kids, and a couple pets thrown in for good measure, she soon realized they needed to focus on one aspect of the business. So, in 1995 the company was scaled down to one store and began to focus on the company's retail and wholesale mail order catalog. In 1996, Factory Direct Craft Supply moved to the internet. Now, over 20 years since this stay-at-home mom just wanted to help with the income, we process thousands of orders each week and ship worldwide.

The product range is divided into five categories:
Craft Supplies -Traditional craft supplies include doll making, tole painting supplies, wood working supplies, kids craft items, craft project books and other basic craft items.
Floral and Accessories - include silk flowers, florist supplies, and ribbon.
Wedding Crafts and Accessories - include mirrors, centerpieces, wedding and bridal shower accessories.
Seasonal Items include craft making material and decorations for all major holidays and seasons.
Home Decor - include decorative items specializing in Country Primitive Home Decor

We have come a long way, but we are still a family operated business. Many of our employees are father and son, brother and sister, husband and wife!
